User Reviews about Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Babys First Blocks
fundamental toy, more than just a sorter.....
Rate Given : 4 | on : 2009-11-23i agree with other reviewers that the lid is way too loose. i would say the toy cannot be used as a shape sorter for an infant, since my daughter immediately lifts the lid correct off, no matter how many times i place it down and demonstrate how to play with the toy. she does admire picking up all the parts---the blocks, the lids and the container. we play with is as a fill-and-spill, and we stack the blocks, too. a excellent price for a toy that has given her hours up hours of entertainment, but it is not being used as a shape-sorter.
It is what it is
Rate Given : 3 | on : 2009-11-04I"ve noticed a lot of other reviews of the this product complaining that the lid doesn"t snap on. That is right, but I haven"t found it to be a problem. My son likes to play with the pieces, the lid, the container. While he isn"t at the stage yet where he is "sorting" the shapes, he still enjoys the toy. And I consider the fact that he understands how to hold the lid off to acquire the shapes out shows he is in the know.
I will say I would never pay retail price for this or many other toys. I got this one in like fresh condition at a mom 2 mom sale for $1.00.
As for the toxicity issue, well, we try to do our best to be mindful of these things, but unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to know what is really in a product. If you are really concerned, don"t buy any plastic toys. On that note, when we do pay retail price for fresh toys, it is always for natural or wood toys, not plastic! Fisher Price doesn"t need any more money then they already acquire ;)
