My Name is Khan Movie

What a normal movie seeks in order to be a hit? Well, the least requirement is its release in theaters. Right?But my name is khan was a hit before its release. Credit goes to other facts than its cast, story and direction. Shahrukh Khan's security check on an airport in some US city and, more recently, Shiv sena controversy worked a lot in that way. Although SRK denies these as publicity stunt but intentionally or intentionally, these episodes worked well to publicize the movie.
And fact is, MNIK requires such publicity because the movie lacks those elements which can really make it an all time hit. Please forgive me hardcore SRK fans! All time hits work well in theaters after 4-5 weeks of release also, average hits perish mid-way. Please wait and watch.
Movie revolves round Rizwan Khan (Shahrukh Khan), who is suffering from Asperger's syndrome. Of late, Bollywood movie audiences come to know about different diseases like temporary memory loss, Progeria and now this Asperger's syndrome, which is a mild form of mental disorder. Different diseases are hit formula for movies these days, aren't they?
Anyways, now the beginning, Rizwan khan is on a journey to meet US president to tell him that his name is khan and he is not a terrorist. An autobiographical narration follows. He remembers his childhood, his mother, his father, his brother, his teacher and his story of meeting Mandira (Kajol).
Although Rizwan is suffering from mental disorder but he is very smart, and intelligent enough to repair almost every electric machine that you can imagine. He can also make a motor by a bicycle to get rid of flood water. He is a well read person and is loaded with lot of bookish knowledge. In fact, post marriage he also reads a book on 'Intercourse for Dumbos', quite a funny scene.
After death of his mother in India he goes directly to US, from his shanty home, to live with his brother Zakir Khan (Jimmy Shergill). He joins his business of herbal beauty products and becomes his salesman.
His sales pitch is very innocent and honest. He sells his products to Mandira, a beautician, and falls in love with her and convinces her to marry him. She is a single mother who lives with her son. She marries him. And family is living happily.
But there life changes post 9/11. Mandira's son dies unfortunately and she thinks that her son had to die because she is married with a Khan. Now she starts hating him and tells him to go to US president and tell him that 'my name is khan and I am not a terrorist'.
Now, extra-ordinary journey of an ordinary man begins. Watch it to see how Rizwan meets US president, how he becomes a celebrity khan, how he wins back his love and how he proves that all Khan's are not terrorists. He does it in spite of his abnormality of speech disorder. SRK's dialogue delivery is noticeable.
Acting wise all actors worked well. Karan Johar used music and soundtracks with good sense and tried very hard to place MNIK in the genre of sensitive cinema. He 'almost' proved that he can make serious movies also. Soundtracks are soothing.
Watch it for lovable pair of SRK and Kajol. They have given their 99% for their roles and I am giving it 6 out of 10.
