Absolutly wonderful!
Rate Given : 5 | on : 2009-11-20we bought this for our 10 year ancient last christmas. IT was a huge hit! The game is the traditional Mario Bros game that is very very similar (if not exact, but with better graphics) as the original Mario game.
About 6 months after we bought it, we "upgraded" her to the fresh DSI, and gave this system to our younger son (age 3).
He likes it as well!
Fantastic toy.
I suppose there are motor skills benefits (hand eye coordination) but really- this is a game, and we got it for fun, not for "learning".

Fantastic for my 6 year ancient
Rate Given : 5 | on : 2009-04-13My 6 year ancient LIKES his DS and his favorite game so far is the Mario game it came with. My best advise is to acquire a warranty. My son"s already has a black label on the screen that Nintendo says we acquire to ship to them to acquire it fixed at the discounted rate of $50 plus shipping and handling. The reduction is due to it being groundbreaking fresh. I wish I had the warranty my girlfriend bought.
Fantastic Game and Fantastic System
Rate Given : 4 | on : 2009-03-17I"ll admit, i"m no gamer; the last system I owned before getting my DS was a Nintendo 64, and aside from a few tries at Mortal Combat on a friend"s Game Boy and a few newer Star Wars games, I was never really into playing video games. But the DS looked fun and not that hard to pick up, so I gave it a shot. The fact that it came with a fresh Mario game (talk about a trip down memory lane), and I found it at a fantastic price just made it even better.
The console itself is simple to employ and honestly well designed. There are only a couple things that bug me: the touch screen scratches easily if you employ it alot (and most of the games I play are heavy on touch screen play), and the only screen protectors that I could find are hard to apply without airbubbles. Also, the slot that holds the stylus (very convienient otherwise; if it wasn"t there, I"m certain I"d acquire lost both styluses within a week) is on the correct side, which is a small annoying if you"re a lefty like me. Being able to borrow my cousins" unused GBA games is fantastic, and the variety of DS games availible is impressive. The Mario edition DS is a rather eye-smarting shade of red (though mine is a lot darker than in the picture, even on the external of the box), but it"s nice that the game comes with it, and Mario fans will like the color and the logo.
As for Fresh Super Mario Bros, the game is fun and challenging. It can acquire a small frustrating, if you"re not a frequent gamer, and you can"t save the game until you beat the monsters in the tower at the end of each level, but otherwise it"s a fantastic game.
